1 Mickelson hones game at Butler National on Thu Sep 09, 2010 4:47 pm

Phil Mickelson's record at Cog Hill isn't very impressive,TaylorMade Burner Superfast Driver but he isn't exactly trying to better familiarize himself with the course's nuances.

Mickelson will tee it up Thursday in the BMW Championship without having played a practice round on Cog Hill this week.

Mickelson didn't even use the range at Cog Hill Wednesday after being “shifted out” of the pro-am. He chose, instead,Callaway LEGACY Driver to practice off site per his big event custom.TaylorMade Burner Super Fast Fairway Woods He spent the day working at Butler National in nearby Oak Brook.

In 11 PGA Tour starts at Cog Hill,Callaway Diablo EDGE Driver Mickelson doesn’t have a single top-10 or top-20 finish. His best finish is a tie for 26th in 1996.

Mickelson was “shifted out” of the BMW Championship pro-am by the Western Golf Association,Callaway Diablo EDGE Fairway Wood which runs the event. The WGA elected to use Mickelson to entertain donors and sponsors of its Evans Scholars Foundation in a BMW skybox after one of his rounds this week. The pro-am “shift out” is a new option tournaments have as part of the PGA Tour’s new value-sponsor program this year,Callaway Diablo EDGE Irons according to Vince Pellegrino, the WGA's vice president of tournaments.
